Dear Self

Many people go through the same obstacles but different scenarios in life. I read online that writing yourself a letter is helpful to sort out your thoughts. It should be about the things you want out of life. My letter is not about what my hopes, dreams, or aspirations are out of life. It is to remind myself that life is a process. I can do whatever I want to accomplish but at times I need a little reminder/push and no one is going to do it for me but myself.

Here’s my letter…

Dear self,

Whenever you’re feeling lazy or like you don’t want to do shit; get your ass up and do something. Wasted time is something you will never get back. If you need some type of inspiration- look at the dream board! That’s why it's hanging there in your room.

You know those times when you don’t know what to do but then somehow things work out? Remember that when you’re stressing. It may not be okay at the moment, but it will be eventually. Be patient and don’t beat yourself up too hard about things. In the end, what’s meant to be will find its way- but you still gotta work towards it. Push and don’t give up. Fight for what you want. You’re a badass bitch and you got this. *flexes arms*

Remember all those times where you were so scared and anxious that you felt like “OMG, it’s the end of the world”? But it wasn’t. Like your last semester in college. You would get anxiety every day that you felt like crying. And sometimes you did. You were so scared of being nothing, no one and becoming nothing after graduating that you didn’t even enjoy the graduation ceremony. You were so focused on the negative that you didn’t see the positive side. That school was over! Lol. Look now. We’re here and we’re alright. We survived that. We made it somewhere. *pats self on back* Thinking back at those moments now, doesn’t it feel like you were being a drama queen? Yes.

Be yourself at all times and never compromise who you are for anything in the world. We may need a little pep talk once in a while, but you know what, that’s okay. Look at yourself in the mirror each day, tell yourself that you got this. Focus on what and who you love and don’t forget about yourself in the process. Lastly, don’t be so hard on yourself. They always say that “you are your biggest critic”, and that’s true. Cut yourself some slack. People may remind you, but you must remember that on your own too. Give yourself credit for your accomplishments, the good that you do, and celebrate your achievements. No matter how small they may be.

Be the best version of yourself you can be. Today, tomorrow and always. I believe in you.

xoxo Liza
