Why it's important to travel

Traveling is sooo important! Everyone needs a break from work and life once in a while. No matter how much you love your job, the work you do, your life at home; a nice getaway is always a must. Your mind gets the chance to experience something that is not in your daily routine. Traveling is a way to escape from the norm.

From my previous vacations, I’ve learned that every location is a completely different experience. Even if you visit the same place twice, you will have two separate experiences. When I went to Italy in 2016, I only saw the pretty touristy side. It was beautiful. But when I went this year, I learned so much more about the Italian culture and the places that were not touristy friendly. Both experiences were still amazing, just different.

Some places around the world are full of poverty. My first time going to Cuba, I was 16 years old, I saw how restricted everything was and how little money Cubans make no matter how much or how hard they work. It’s so sad. Yes, Cuba is communist, but it makes you appreciative. That experience made me acknowledge the privilege I have living here in the United States, to have the freedom of choosing things. In Cuba, you don't have the option to chose. Traveling feeds your mind to so many different ways, changes your viewpoints sometimes and opens your eyes to things you would have never known existed.

I feel like every single trip I have been on, every place I’ve traveled to has helped me grow as an individual so much. I learned something about the country or state and learned more about myself. It’s amazing how traveling can expand your mind and teach you different things. You also get the chance to expand your taste buds and try different food! Traveling with the right people/ person is very important. You get to see a person's true character when you're in a foreign country for a couple of days.

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” - Mark Twain
