One of the most famous holiday drinks is the Coquito. It's a simple drink that you can make at home anytime you want. There are variations on how you can make the coquito and this is how I make it. 

List of things you will need:

  • 2 Cans of evaporated milk
  • 2 Cans of sweet condensed milk
  • 1 Bottle of Bacardi (or your choice of white rum)
  • 2 Tea spoons of vanilla extract
  • 2 Coco Lopez cans
  • Cinnamon sticks
  • Star Anise
  • Cloves 
  • Cinnamon powder

The first step is to take star anise, cinnamon sticks and cloves (if you find them in small bag forms it's easier). Boil them together in 2 cups of water in a small pot. When the tea is done boiling, strain it then put it in the fridge to cool down.

Take the 2 cans of evaporated milk, 2 cans of sweet condensed milk, 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract, and 2 Coco Lopez cans, and mix it all together in a big bowl or pot. Once the tea is cooled down add it to the mix. 

After all the main ingredients are in, grab some white rum, I used a bottle of Bacardi, and start adding to the mixture. Fist I started with one cup to see how the flavor was, then I ended up throwing in the entire bottle of Bacardi (750 ml). You can add as much or as little as you'd like. Add some cinnamon sticks into the bottle so it grabs for flavor. You can also add the cinnamon powder to the mix before pouring the mixture into the bottle. I used a funnel to make the pouring easier.

Let it sit in the fridge for at least a day so the alcohol sits in the mix. 

FYI- I did not add cinnamon powder into my mix, but instead, I added the cinnamon after pouring the Coquito in each cup. I like to change it up and play around with the recipe.
